Project Destiny: The Jade Rabbit

I had been wanting to make this one for a while. More of a personal interest because frankly I just loved the way it looked and besides that there is a lot of mystic behind it in the Destiny universe, especially since one of the first gold chests you come across gives you the Jade Rabbit Emblem.

It just so happens one of my regular commissioners wanted one for a Xmas present. So I got to work collecting my various references. Once I had everything in order I started to draw out a blueprint since, at least for now, it was going to be a one off and was going to be made of EVA foam.

So I got to work on it and started blocking it out and then slowly refining the look by adding more and more details to it. Early on I 3D printed the stock and the sight for it to get a head start on some of the smaller details. Here are some progress pictures.

Then I printed out some of the tiny details like the Jade Rabbit emblem that goes on the gun. and the tiny diamond patterned parts up top.

I liked the Jade Rabbit and I needed two to be identical so I decided to make a mold of it.

I had gotten it to the point of paint so I gave the entire thing a few coats of Plasti-Dip and started on the final paint.

All in all I love the way it came out and almost wished I had molded it so I could keep one for myself. Here are the pictures of the final product.

So tell me what you think in the comments below. If your interested in having your very own Jade Rabbit head over to my Etsy Store and send me a Custom Request and we can talk about it. Who knows maybe one of these days I'll make a hard version and start making them.
